ACR/VF Treatment Guidelines

These guidelines present the first recommendations endorsed by the American College of Rheumatology (ACR) and the Vasculitis Foundation (VF) for the treatment and management of many types of vasculitis. The guidelines address remission induction and remission maintenance, treatments for specific organs and tissues damaged by vasculitis inflammation, and diagnostic strategies.

KDIGO 2024 aav GUIDELINES

These guidelines from Kidney Disease Improving Global Outcomes (KDIGO) provide updated recommendations and practice points on glucocorticoids, rituximab and complement inhibition to treat ANCA-associated vasculitis (AAV). The guidelines address the use of avacopan as an alternative to glucocorticoids, and plasma exchange for use in patients with advanced kidney disease.

eular 2022 AAV-Associated

These recommendations from the European Alliance of Assocations for Rheumatology (EULAR) address the diagnosis and treatment of adult patients with ANCA-associated vasculitis (AAV) and are intended to give advice to clinicians, other health professionals, pharmaceutical companies and regulatory organisations.

Prednisone

Treatment for vasculitis frequently involves taking high doses of glucocorticoids such as prednisone. Glucocorticoids quickly reduce inflammation, protecting vital organs; but they also cause a lot of side effects. Learn about possible side effects & how to manage them.

Treatments

Glucocorticoids are not the only treatment for vasculitis. Information on vasculitis treatment options are provided as a resource to help promote shared decision making between you and your medical team.

Your Treatment Plan

Developing a treatment plan that is right for you requires careful discussion between you and your healthcare provider, guidance from research studies and treatment guidelines, and the clinical knowledge, experience and expertise of the members of your treatment team.
