Sharon Chung, MD

Dr. Chung is Director of the UCSF Vasculitis Clinic, where she maintains an active clinical practice diagnosing and treating patients with systemic vasculitides. In her research, she studies genetic factors associated with the development and progression of these rare autoimmune diseases.
Dr. Chung earned her medical degree and completed an internal medicine residency at Johns Hopkins School of Medicine, and completed a residency in internal medicine at the Johns Hopkins Hospital. She completed a fellowship in rheumatology and earned a Master of Advanced Study degree in clinical research at UCSF.
Before coming to work at UCSF, Dr. Chung gained expertise caring for patients at the Center for Vasculitis Care and Research at Cleveland Clinic. She received the American College of Rheumatology’s Distinguished Fellow Award in 2007.
