Living with Microscopic Polyangiitis

Kathy is a mother to two adult children and married to Rob, her hiking and traveling partner, as well as business and awesome care partner. Kathy was diagnosed with microscopic polyangiitis ANCA-associated vasculitis in 2009. She had six years of treatment and remissions that led to nine years of remission off treatment.

In early 2025 Kathy had a flare again but is currently in remission off treatment. Kathy serves as a Victory over Vasculitis Ambassador and has been the VF medical webinar host since 2020.

She is also a high-ranking Black Belt in Karate, a Black Belt in Jujitsu and a Brown Belt in Judo. She and her husband owned a chain of Karate schools in Raleigh, North Carolina for 50 years, but they are now semi-retired.
