Living with Polymyalgia Rheumatica (PMR)

Jan is a retired wellness instructor who has dedicated more than 20 years to improving the health and well-being of older adults through chair exercise and aquatic fitness classes in assisted living and retirement communities.

For the past 15 years, she has also worked with a nonprofit cancer organization, leading meditation and guided visualization sessions for individuals with cancer and their families, helping them develop tools for relaxation, resilience, and healing.

Three years ago, Jan was diagnosed with polymyalgia rheumatica (PMR), a life-changing experience that deepened her appreciation for the mind-body practices she has taught for many years. She also lives with idiopathic neuropathy in her feet, adding another layer to her personal health journey.

Drawing on her experience with meditation and mindfulness, Jan continues to navigate these challenges with resilience and optimism. Jan believes that while everyone faces challenges, we can find strength, hope, and even joy by supporting one another. She is passionate about helping others discover practical techniques for managing stress, cultivating inner peace, and building meaningful connections through shared experiences.
