Irene Tipton

Patient Advocate

Living with Granulomatosis with Polyangiitis (GPA/Wegener’s)

Irene dedicated her career to education, serving as an elementary school teacher, assistant principal, and trainer for fellow educators. In 2021, her life changed when she was diagnosed with granulomatosis with polyangiitis after experiencing severe health complications, including kidney failure.

Though forced into retirement, Irene remained determined to live with purpose and connection. She and her husband adapted their love of travel by exploring closer destinations while embracing a new pace of life.

She was thrilled to be asked to work with Stacey Ivits, author of the "Navigating Your Vasculitis Journey" to create the online course that continues to offer support for others.  Through facilitating the course Irene has found a meaningful way to supporting others.
