Catherine Sims, MD, MHS

Rheumatologist

Duke Health

Dr. Sims is a board-certified rheumatologist with clinical and research interests in reproductive rheumatology and preventive care, with a focus on improving comprehensive care for patients with rheumatologic conditions. She has received grant funding to study pregnancy experiences and outcomes in women with vasculitis.

Through collaborative research with patients and national advocacy groups, she works to support informed decision-making regarding family planning and preventive care in rheumatic disease.

Dr. Sims earned her MD from Virginia Tech Carilion School of Medicine and her MHS from Duke University. She completed her internal medicine residency at The Ohio State University and her rheumatology fellowship at Duke University. She is board certified in Internal Medicine and Rheumatology.
