Eileen Breslin, PhD, RN, FAAN, FAANP

Eileen is a nurse practitioner, healthcare leader, and patient advocate who brings decades of experience in nursing education and academic leadership to the Vasculitis Foundation (VF) Board of Directors. She retired as Professor and Dean Emerita from the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio and is a Fellow of the American Academy of Nursing (FAAN), an honor recognizing her national leadership in advancing nursing education and healthcare. Eileen is also a Fellow of the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners (FAANP) and was elected by her peers as a member of the National Academies of Practice, an organization that advises governmental bodies on improving and transforming interprofessional healthcare.
As both a provider and a patient, Eileen is deeply committed to increasing awareness of vasculitis and helping healthcare professionals recognize the disease earlier to improve outcomes. She has held numerous leadership roles at the state and national levels, including Past Chair of the Texas Council of Deans of Nursing Programs and Chair, Chair-Elect, Treasurer, and Board Member-at-Large for the American Association of Colleges of Nursing.
Through her experience in academic and nonprofit leadership, Eileen is dedicated to advancing the VF mission by promoting education, strengthening professional awareness, and supporting the vasculitis community.
