William C. "Kriss" Andrews, Treasurer
Patient and Advocate
William C. “Kriss” Andrews, now retired, was a senior executive and consultant with an expertise in financial management and business strategies. He earned his MBA at Northwestern University in Finance and Managerial Economics. He also received his Bachelor of Science in Accounting from Bradley University.
Kriss was diagnosed with MPA in April 2015, after seeking help from more than 7 different doctors. It took more than six months for him to receive a diagnosis, but he finally got a treatment and went into remission six months later. The vasculitis re-emerged in 2018 after he got a tooth infection. Kriss then received Rituximab treatments and now remains in remission. Kriss’s sister also was diagnosed with MPA last year. She lives in a rural area and had to travel hundreds of miles to find a doctor who diagnosed her symptoms.
Kriss’s goal on the board is to help others avoid what happened to him. He wants to help patients with vasculitis get diagnosed more promptly by helping to create greater awareness in the medical community. He also wants to support research that leads to faster recovery and complete and permanent remission.
Kriss grew up in Boise, Idaho and graduated from Boys Town High School in Nebraska, where he went after his mother died. He has served as Treasurer of the Boys Town National Alumni Association Scholarship Fund and Secretary of the Father Flanagan League Society of Devotion, which recently funded and released a documentary on Father Flanagan’s life. Kriss’s uncle, Ben Stadler, also attended Boys Town in the 1930’s following the death of his mother.
Kriss and Joanne, his wife of more than 50 years, split their time between Michigan and Florida. They have five adult children and five grandchildren.
